We enjoyed our stay at the St. Regis Mauritius. First of all, it needs to be mentioned that the service of all the staff is impecable. They really go out of their way to help. We also really appreciated the upgrade to a very large room. In the reception, we were received by a very friendly lady (forgot the name) and were helped considerably during a late check out by Ravinesh (really took good care of us). Breakfast and dinners were excellent. Food quality and service exceptional. The sommelier Sabrina did a great job and was always ready to help with a big smile. Vanilla (the hostess at the restaurants) was always eager to support us on any way possible. In general, the staff was incredible friendly and seemed to enjoy working for the hotel. We decided to eat lunch at the bar and at the beach, which were very good (specially the hamburger). The lunch buffet at the Boathouse was not our preference - maybe it could be simplified more as there were many fish dishes (my wife is allergic to fish). The butler (Marie) was very nice and willing to support us at any time. Location of the hotel is fantastic and can be leveraged further. The only item that we thought needs improvement is the state of the furniture in the rooms and in the restaurants - it looks old, in many spaces it has stains and many sofas seemed humid (could be the climate). The closet of the room had very high degrees of humidity (very strong smell in the cupboards, which we did not use). Our expectations in terms of furniture and cleanliness were clearly those of the St Regis name and this was the only area for improvement. Small item to think about: make all staff driving buggies say hello and thank you when pedestrians step aside-makes a big difference.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff really makes a very positive difference.
