I stayed at the resort with my wife for 7 nights. The resort has a nice charm, we arrived at night and felt like we arrived somewhere exotic when the minibus pulled in at the entrance gate. We were lucky to receive a upgrade to a suite in the villa known as 'The Residence'. The room was opulent with extravagant lounging, bathroom and dressing facilities.
We enjoyed the easy access to the beach from the suite, the plunge pool and the ability to open up the room to the balcony terrace. Our only complaint about the room was the dim 'atmospheric' lighting throughout, we were unlucky to experience two 'anti-cyclones' during our stay, the rain and cloud did make the room darker.
Due to the rain and the villa being at the opposite end of the resort from the restaurants, we relied on the buggy facilities quite a lot. These seemed to be overwhelmed at some points, with long delays from the butler service's expected arrival times to the time the buggy actually reached the villa. One night we were even told that they had all broken down!
The food in general was served to a high standard, breakfast allowed guest access to a wide range of food from all over the world. The lunch was a little more limited with only two restaurants open. The evening meals provided a great choice.
Unluckily we both seemed come down with a bug half way through the holiday meaning that we were not able to fully exploit the restaurants full potential and our full board package. However the hotel were very accommodating, allow us to order room service as part of the package. When we were well enough to leave the room, the restaurants chefs did allow us to order non-menu items to match the doctors recommended foods.
Overall we did enjoy the facilities, we were very well looked after by the staff at the hotel, especially by Joyce and Simla who looked after the villa. They were both very friendly and made sure that were always had what we needed at the room. They cared for us during our time of illness. Words cannot praise them enough for how they helped. I would like to think that I would return to the hotel again in the future and get a better feel of Mauritius without the anti-cyclones and illness!
